Application of mirror and mirror photochromic ink

mirror photochromic ink is a kind of mirror ink with special effect. It is printed on transparent plastic material (back) and uses light interference on the front to make the color of the ink change with the change of viewing angle, playing the role of laser effect. Printing on a variety of substrate materials can get a unique sense of color and advanced sense. In recent years, the use of mirror light color changing ink to print goods has gradually increased, such as the buttons of communicators, the panels of electronic products, and plastic signs, which are popular with users and improve the value and selling points of silk screen printing goods. However, compared with ordinary printing inks, this kind of mirror light color changing ink requires a high degree of printing technology and skills. Here, the characteristics, printing methods, storage and precautions of mirror ink are briefly described as follows, hoping to be helpful to the use of mirror ink:

1. Types of ink:

are divided into ordinary mirror ink (silver and metal color) and mirror light color changing ink. At present, ordinary mirror inks are widely used, such as IMD technology used in buttons, washing machine operation panels, microwave oven function indicator panels and signs, as well as decorative parts on electronic products; The use of mirror light color changing ink is more decorative than ordinary mirror ink, making the product more beautiful

2. Substrates used in surface inks:

it is mainly several kinds of talk about the classic use of transparent sheets on so many PP interior parts, and they are all printed on the back (back), and the effect can be seen from the front. The transparent sheets used include PC (polycarbonate), PMMA (acrylic or plexiglass), hard PVC (polyvinyl chloride) and treated pet (polyester). Mirror ink has adhesion to the above transparent sheets, and can obtain mirror and mirror discoloration effects. It is worth noting that in the finished products of PC or PMMA, due to the different materials and processing technology, some will not get a good mirror or mirror change effect due to poor solvent resistance. Therefore, a small sample test must be done before use, and production can only be carried out after confirmation. Not only that, in order to get the mirror effect, in addition to the above, because the mirror ink is composed of special aluminum pigment and a small amount of resin and other basic materials, and the aluminum pigment is flake, which is arranged in parallel on the surface to get the mirror reflection performance, so the material with poor surface smoothness (substrate) and the material that cannot resist the solvent in the ink cannot get a good mirror effect

3. Characteristics of screen printing mirror ink:

(1) in addition to a small amount of resin and flake aluminum pigment, the solvent accounts for a large proportion in the mirror ink, so the viscosity of the mirror ink is very low. During screen printing, do not use the inclined opening version as much as possible, otherwise it will flow heavily. Therefore, whether manual or machine printing, you should use the parallel lifting version to make the watery ink always fill the version, Avoid or reduce blocking, which will affect the normal operation of silk screen printing

(2) if the screen printing machine is selected for printing, the metal inking scraper should be changed to rubber, which is an affordable price to make the inking scraper, so that the ink is evenly coated on the plate

(3) during mirror ink screen printing, the coating range should be controlled to be close to the printing area of the effective picture and text as far as possible, otherwise, due to the large coating area, the solvent in the mirror ink will evaporate rapidly and cause blocking, and continuous printing will not be possible

(4) mirror ink volatilizes quickly in the upper solvent. In order to prevent blocking, it is necessary to achieve continuous printing while paying attention not to let the flowing air dry the plate

(5) if the thickness of the ink film is printed too thick, there will be peeling between the aluminum pigments in the ink. Therefore, it is recommended that the ink be printed as thin as possible, and note that the mirror ink cannot be overlapped

(6) mirror ink itself has no good masking performance. In order to get a long-term good mirror and its color changing effect, a layer of masking ink must be added. This kind of printing ink should be oil ink that adheres well to the mirror and color changing mirror ink without solvent erosion

mirror ink is a high-grade decorative polymer. Suppliers and dealers believe that it is as thin as water, and it is very volatile in silk screen printing. If the printing environment is bad and the printing technology is not in place, there will be an increase in the number of blocking and wiping in printing, and it will also cause uneven ink layer on the substrate
